Obesity Increase the Risk of Deep Venous Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism

Pulmonary embolism is the third most common acute cardiovascular disease after heart attack and stroke and results in significant number of the deaths. What happens, blood stasis in the leg veins occur called deep venous thrombosis. When a piece of clotted blood in the leg veins is dislodged, it travels to pulmonary arteries resulting in stoppage of blood supply to the lungs. Patient starts complaint of chest pain, shortness of breath and in severe cases death may result.
